The Monkey Tree Pub is Victoria’s spacious gathering place founded on a commitment to craft.
We believe that the best quality comes from hard work and passion. Mastering the craft of food, drink and community merrymaking is our commitment since we opened our doors in 1986.
The pub was built by BC hospitality icon Gordon Card and his exceedingly high standard of craftsmanship is still apparent today.

Where’s the tree?
The origin of the pub's name came from a 60ft high monkey tree that stood on the highest point of land at the pub’s location. It was a natural beacon and landmark to the community, welcoming everyone to the ‘Tree’. Unfortunately the tree itself was felled in the early nineties but the pub had already secured itself as a landmark, a place to come together.
Our Kitchen
Founder of The Monkey Tree Pub, Gordon Card insisted on using only the freshest ingredients. It is a tradition we carry on to this day. From our hand-cut salsa to our carefully crafted specials, our chef diligently prepares pub classics and an ever-evolving take on the favourites. Come in for our rotating and seasonal ‘Chef’s Choice’ and check out the board by the bar when you come in to see what the team in our kitchen have created each week.
